4. Mastering the use of quotation marks in a Google query

When you enter a multi-word query on Google (e.g. space launchers), Google generally displays pages containing both words, usually in singular or plural form, but not necessarily side by side, or in the same direction.

To force a search on terms as you've entered them (be they compound words, book titles or personal names in the form "first name last name"...), you need to enclose them in quotation marks. In this case, however, the engine performs a strict search on the words as they are written, and will, for example, only find the plural (or singular) forms of the compound word.

The use of quotation marks can prove invaluable when you want to force the engine to search for a word strictly as you've written it, whether in relation to the form of the word (plural or singular), to accentuation (when you want information on the hiking "market",...
