Life cycle assessment (LCA) is currently the most comprehensive and robust approach to environmental assessment of systems, whether they be products, services, or processes.
LCA is an iterative, multi-criteria, systemic, and comprehensive assessment methodology. Based on mass and energy balances throughout the entire life cycle, this approach provides a detailed map of the material flows passing through a system.
