 INTRODUCTION

SciVerse Scopus is a scientometric bibliographic database launched in 2004 by the publisher Elsevier. It enables you to search for information relevant to your work from a very large corpus of journals, conference proceedings, serials and patents.

The Scopus database is unique in that it offers very broad coverage of all fields of knowledge, produced by researchers from all over the world, including emerging and developing countries. Scopus is the 2nd database to offer bibliometric data and indicators (like the Web of Science, see data sheet 1065).

A paying resource, Scopus can only be consulted by subscription. Depending on the conditions negotiated, access to the resource can be either local or remote.

This fact sheet will help you get to grips with SciVerse Scopus quickly and efficiently, taking advantage of the database's features to build a methodical approach without being overwhelmed by too much information.

How to adopt a funnel-shaped approach, based on refining results? How to exploit the results obtained? How do you decipher your reference notices? How to set up a database watch?
