4. Where can seizures be carried out?

Under the terms of article L. 615-5 of Code de la propriété intellectuelle , seizure may be carried out "in any place".

Nevertheless, it is necessary to identify the places where the items sought are likely to be found, in order to enable the seizure to be carried out successfully. There are two main categories of location.

• The alleged counterfeiter's premises: depending on the factors being investigated, these may include the company's head office, the factories, workshops or laboratories where the counterfeit products are manufactured, sales outlets (stores, showrooms, websites) or the premises where the products are stored;
