Zotero and Mendeley both enable you to capture relevant bibliographic references when searching a large number of professional databases and scientific journal aggregators. So, for example, resources from the Web of Science, Science Direct, Wiley, Springer Link and Scopus can be easily exploited in both Mendeley and Zotero.
With Zotero :
if the databases are Zotero-compatible, you can save references from the URL bar, by clicking on the folder icon displayed when you are on a results page, or on the document icon if, on the resource page, you are at the level of a specific reference;
you can also register a reference using its identifier (ISBN, DOI, PMID);
you can also select the reference export function (automatic import of a .ris file into Zotero)....
