6.1 Take care of intellectual dynamics
Over and above the organization you have set up, make sure that projects reflect both the company's intellectual dynamism and that of your R&D department.
An R&D department must respond to internal research requests: for example, to develop a product formulation according to marketing specifications. At the same time, you need to manage your department's internal processes (documentation techniques, test protocols, etc.): R&D reliability needs to be managed.
At the same time, however, it is possible to carry out projects suggested by the researchers themselves. On the strength of certain results, it is often possible for the researcher to extrapolate the data acquired and envisage innovations....
