There are a number of official and professional bodies empowered to receive voluntary registrations and give them a certain date. When it comes to protecting the description or content of an innovation, different types of registration are possible.
2.1 Filing a Soleau envelope with INPI
The Soleau envelope is a small, two-compartment envelope which is purchased from the INPI and deposited with this organization, after having slipped a copy of your document into each compartment. The INPI returns one of the compartments which, in the event of a dispute, can be compared with the one kept by the INPI. The Soleau envelope is very easy to use and very inexpensive (€15 in 2017).
