2.1 Different detection and affinity measurement methods

An enzyme activity test is based on specific physicochemical properties of the product formed from the substrate, the appearance of which is measured. The disappearance of a substrate with specific physicochemical properties can also be monitored. Whichever method is used, it is imperative that only one of the two molecules (product or substrate) has the physicochemical properties required to quantify the reaction rate. These properties make it possible to quantify the appearance of the product or the disappearance of the substrate.
