2. Testing for the assessment of vehicle dynamics performances
2.1 Purpose and scope of tests
The assessment of vehicle dynamics performances, i.e. the running behavior and the ride comfort, is necessary for the vehicle acceptance and is done mostly via field testing. Therefore, the understanding of testing methods, instrumentation, signal processing methods and the assessment quantities is essential for the validation of simulation models. In some cases, such as the assessment of the crosswind stability or when the extension of the homologation via simulations (i.e. virtual homologation) is allowed, a validated model is crucial, and the understanding of testing procedure and instrumentation is essential for the accuracy of the model validation. On the other hand, the validated models can help on a better understanding of test conditions and...
