 INTRODUCTION

This fact sheet explains how to use the recognition agreements signed by accreditation bodies to your advantage. It will also guide you in avoiding certain pitfalls that could lead to deviations from ISO/CEI 17020, ISO/CEI 17025 and ISO 15189 requirements for traceability to International System of Units (SI) units.

The aim is to provide readers with the information they need to decide whether or not to validate a service performed abroad, accompanying new measurement equipment or equipment subcontracted by a subsidiary located in another country.

The appendix contains a very short procedure, in the form of a self-supporting form, to provide the assurances required by most accreditation or certification standards.
