Overview

ABSTRACT

The robotization of large spaces requires in-depth expertise in robotic behavior, follow-up on rigorous methodologies, and a precise understanding of the impact of processes on robots. This document examines various robotic architectures, assesses robot performance in terms of accuracy and repeatability, and presents concrete examples to structure needs. It also explores the scientific challenges associated with integrating robots into large spaces, the available measurement tools, and highlights the specificities of architectures based on the tasks to be performed. Finally, a methodology is proposed for effective implementation, emphasizing the challenges to be addressed and the future prospects for robotics in these environments.

 INTRODUCTION

Robotics has dramatically transformed our society and industry, bringing significant benefits on many levels. In the context of society, robots have revolutionized sectors such as healthcare, industry and services, offering innovative solutions to complex challenges. To enhance synergies between human and machine, collaborative robots, or cobots, perform repetitive assembly tasks close to operators, medical robots assist surgeons in delicate operations, and service robots contribute to domestic tasks. On the industrial front, robotics have improved the efficiency, precision and safety of operations. Robots automate repetitive processes, reducing production costs and boosting productivity. What's more, collaborative robots work alongside human workers, creating a safer, more ergonomic working environment.

This article is structured as follows: a first section presents robotics in general, a second section focuses on devices performing tasks in large spaces, the third section focuses on robotic architectures and relocation technologies. Finally, a methodology is described for successful robotization in large spaces.
