3. Methods for reducing noise levels in industrial environments

In parallel with the standardization work carried out in connection with European regulations, traditional standardization activity continued on other technical aspects of noise in the workplace. European standards, not harmonized under a directive, have been prepared. They cover the following subjects

  • design of low-noise workplaces (EN ISO 11690 parts 1 to 3). Part 3 deals with the prediction of noise levels in the workplace, a subject of great importance to occupational health and safety, on which considerable progress has been made over the last twenty years;

  • the design of technical means to reduce noise during its propagation and the measurement of their effectiveness: EN ISO 15667 and EN ISO 11546 for machine enclosures; EN ISO 15667 and EN ISO 11957 for personnel cabins; EN ISO 11821 for screens; EN...
