7. Measuring distances and angles

The measurement of a distance or angle is obtained by a calculation based on the definition parameters of two ideal geometric elements contained in the database. The number of theoretically possible cases is obtained by combining two by two the point, line and plane geometric elements present in the database. We thus list six possible distance calculation cases (point-point, point-right, point-plane, right-right, right-plane and plane-plane), and three angle calculation cases (right-right, right-plane and plane-plane). Given that the geometric elements associated with real geometric elements are never perfectly aligned with their ideal model, the two cases of distance calculation between a straight line theoretically parallel to a plane, and between two theoretically parallel planes give mathematically zero distances, as the associated geometric elements necessarily intersect in both cases....
