1. Metrology organization and connection chain

When setting up an electrical metrology reference laboratory as part of a connection chain, it is essential, as in other fields, to comply with rules and requirements that demonstrate the traceability of its references to the International System of Units (SI). Upstream of this connection chain, the national metrology institutes (NMIs) are responsible for establishing national measurement standards and disseminating them to users by means of successive calibrations as part of this connection chain. The NMI is also responsible for carrying out the international comparisons required to demonstrate the international equivalence of these national standards. Dissemination at national level is carried out within the framework of a strictly regulated accreditation system.
