8. Areas of use. Performance

—Acoustics (frequency scales in octaves or thirds of an octave).

—Seismic (logarithmic frequency scale).

—Measurement of frequency and time characteristics of systems (with excitation signals).

—Adjustment of elements (e.g. filter tuning frequency and damping).

—Study of mechanical structures; analysis of vibrations in rotating machines.

For the latter application, some analyzers offer a "waterfall" display mode, allowing the simultaneous representation of successive spectra, with an offset and perspective effect. This display mode can be used, among other things, to analyze the vibration modes of mechanical systems and highlight any faults that may lead to breakdowns.
