3.1 Addressing the continuous overshoot of planetary boundaries
The Stockholm Resilience Centre, an independent center for transdisciplinary research and education on complex human and planetary dynamics, was established in 2007. An international team of 29 researchers, led by Johan Rockström, then director of the Center, published an article in 2009 presenting nine planetary boundaries corresponding to processes that ensure the stability of the Earth system and its resistance to human pressures
