3. Impact of technologies on liquid effluent discharge

The impact of technologies on the discharge of liquid effluents can be a key criterion in the comparison procedure, given the drastic regulatory requirements in industry and the introduction of taxes proportional to the quantity discharged. All sources of emissions and discharges must be taken into account.

The use of electrical technology contributes to greater cleanliness, longer production times (uptime), fewer cleaning cycles and, consequently, lower effluent volumes.

However, it is difficult to determine precisely the volume of liquid effluent discharged as a result of the reduced fouling rate of unit operations. This is because it involves elements that can be accurately quantified (products, etc.), but also others that are much more difficult to quantify: the loss of earnings due to machine downtime, consumption of hot water generally...
