  • 1 – Resveratrol blocks proliferation of human liver tumour cells.

    Effect accentuated by low levels of ethanol (Oncol report, 2000), demonstrating the favorable effect of resveratrol's alcoholic environment.

  • 2 – Double effect of resveratrol on human colorectal tumor cells: antiproliferative action (Int. J. Mol. Med., 2002 ) and pro-apoptotic effect or triggering of cell suicide (J. Biol. Chem., 2003 ). Colorectal cancer is the 3rd most common cause of cancer-related death in humans, after lung, breast and prostate cancer.

  • 3 – Evidence of resveratrol sensitization of chemotoxic-resistant colorectal tumor cells (Oncogene, 2004 ). The major therapeutic problem in digestive cancer is cell resistance to cytotoxic agents.
