4. Conclusion

The original SIQO management system, set up at the beginning of the 20th century, brings together the public authorities and the industry within INAO.

The decision-making procedures put in place make it possible to define, for each sign, the production conditions essential for obtaining the required qualities and characteristics, on the basis of proposals drawn up collectively by the producers concerned and validated by the INAO's national committees.

Backed by INAO-led protection against usurpation and counterfeiting, SIQO products are highly visible, providing an official guarantee and helping to increase consumers' willingness to pay.
