General organization

The Ministry in charge of the Environment (currently the Ministry of Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development and Spatial Planning – MEEDAT) and ADEME (the French Environment and Energy Management Agency) are responsible for ensuring the implementation, in France, of resources linked to community obligations (European directives, LAURE), with the scientific support of the LCSQA (Central Laboratory for Air Quality Monitoring).

The stakes involved in air pollution, whether in terms of prevention or health and environmental protection, have led the public authorities to set up a national monitoring system, within the framework of the LAURE law and in accordance with the European framework directive.
