2. Understanding the practical consequences of IPPC provisions

In practice, operating an IPPC plant means carrying out an operating review every ten years. This assessment is an opportunity for the authorities to carry out a periodic review of the plant's authorization conditions, as required by the IPPC Directive.

It provides additions and updates since the previous impact study, and includes the following elements:

  • an analysis of plant operation over the past ten-year period, based on available data;

  • elements that complete and modify the analysis of the facility's effects on the environment and health;

  • an analysis of the performance of pollution prevention and reduction methods in relation to the effectiveness of available techniques;
