6.1 Request an urban planning certificate to find out which planning regulations apply to a plot of land.

The planning certificate is not an authorization, and does not replace the building permit.

This is an administrative document that sets out the planning regulations applicable to a given plot of land. It is issued free of charge. There are two types of planning certificate:

  • The certificat d'urbanisme d'information (urban planning certificate) provides information on the urban planning regulations applicable to a plot of land, in the absence of a specific project. It provides information on town-planning provisions (for example, the rules of a local town-planning plan), the existence of public utility easements...
