2. How does CSS work?

2.1 Composition and chairmanship of a CSS

The committee is composed of at least one member chosen from each of the following five colleges:

  • yourself, or a person you have designated to represent you, chosen from your company or a professional organization (e.g., professional federation or union);

  • state administrations, with at least one representative from the departmental prefect (the police prefect in Paris) and the department responsible for inspecting classified facilities;

  • elected representatives of the relevant local authorities or public inter-municipal cooperation bodies (e.g., representative of the municipality where the facility is located);
