4.1 Validate your water classification with the SPE

Checking that your activities are covered by water regulations, and in particular by the water nomenclature, is an essential step. This initial phase of identifying the regime to which you may be subject requires knowledge of water regulations, as well as how they relate to other regulations. To avoid embarking on unnecessary and costly administrative procedures, we invite you to contact the SPE water police, who will confirm or invalidate your classification. To do this, you can contact the one-stop "water police" office in each département. These are generally located in the Directions Départementales des Territoires (DDT), which are part of the Prefecture.
