Without a management system, the simultaneous connection of vehicles when employees arrive at 8:30 a.m. causes a critical power spike. This spike can exceed the contracted power capacity, triggering a site-wide circuit breaker trip or major financial penalties from the grid operator. Smart charging is the technological solution to this challenge.
Energy management is organized into three levels of increasing intelligence.
