3. Production information systems

Here, we present existing information systems that meet some of the needs of production, such as technical data management, planning...

  • These different systems can be classified according to their degree of integration:

    • independent applications: each function has its own information system, and therefore its own database;

    • specific interfaces enabling communication between different functions (with their own modules). In this way, the user takes the initiative to update the databases of the other modules by means of a one-off data transfer;

    • integrated applications: for example, in an ERP that manages a single database and ensures data consistency.
