INTRODUCTION
Following the example of North America (USA, Canada) for almost two decades, since the mid-1990s French regulations have authorized the approval and marketing of non-metallic high- or very-high-pressure devices made of composite materials, with operating pressures ranging from 10 to 550 bar and volumes from less than 1 liter to over 200 liters.
This article presents an overview of the technological solutions currently being adopted, the associated current and emerging markets, development factors and advantages over traditional metal solutions, as well as regulatory and standards-related aspects.
