5. Injection molding: tool design

In injection molding, it's difficult to avoid stagnation in the screw on the one hand, and excessive shearing in the tooling on the other. We have seen that injection units can be adapted to micro-parts. On the other hand, the mold is the main source of material degradation, and we're going to remind you how to limit these effects.

We will also look at how to limit the effects of the following frequently encountered problems:

  • feeding material to the impression ;

  • degassing the footprint ;

  • insert cooling ;

  • parts ejection.
