1. Determine employees' medical surveillance: simple medical surveillance (SMS) or reinforced medical surveillance (SMR)?

Except in special cases and in the absence of a declaration to the contrary by the employer, employees are subject to simple medical surveillance.

DRT circular no. 3 of April 7, 2005 states that "the employer is responsible for determining which employees benefit from reinforced medical surveillance". Enhanced medical surveillance covers two types of situation:

1.1 Enhanced medical surveillance linked to the individual

Some workers are considered "more exposed", and Code du travail requires them to be monitored more frequently by their occupational physician, as part of a SMR. This is the case...
