1. PGM: Description and Methods of Production

1.1 Overview

We will limit ourselves to the GMOs we have just mentioned—that is, those that are currently on the market somewhere in the world, or at the very least are in the process of being approved for market release or undergoing field trials. Of course, some reckless experimenters might conceive of GMOs that are undeniably dangerous, which would raise specific issues that are beyond the scope of this article.

A GMO is a plant in which one or more traits have been acquired not through gene transfer between two parent plants during crossbreeding, but through genetic engineering techniques.
