2. Waste characterization procedures

The procedures for characterizing the waste produced and/or managed in France, and the resulting categories, are governed by Book V – Title 4 of the French Environment Code (CE).

Article R. 541-8 CE contrasts household waste: any waste, hazardous or non-hazardous, whose producer is a household, with business waste: any waste, hazardous or non-hazardous, whose initial producer is not a household.
