6. Electromagnetic compatibility of ignition systems

Car manufacturers have a very strict definition of the requirements to be met by electrical and electronic components, as well as by the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of motor vehicles placed on the market. These test methods refer to numerous standards such as NF R 13-007-2, NF R 13-007-3, NF R 13-007-5, NF R 13-007-, NF R 13-008-2 (cf. ).

Ignition systems are the source of numerous disturbances, causing interference to the vehicle's radio or ECU diagnostics errors. The various engine control components are therefore subjected to numerous tests designed to verify their "mute" (measurement of emitted noise) and "immunity" (resistance to emissions).
