 INTRODUCTION

The sheer diversity of vacuum applications means that we can only give a general overview here. It should be noted, however, that the progress made in the microelectronics and nanotechnology industries has been a source of innovations and developments that have spilled over into other industries. Cross-fertilization is difficult between all applications (nuclear, space, medical, agri-food, fine chemicals, etc.). Each of them expresses itself in its own language and culture. So don't hesitate to meet the various players in vacuum applications to improve your skills.

We don't use vacuum for vacuum's sake, apart from a few applications (particle gas pedals, electron tubes...).

The science of vacuum is the same for everyone.
