Density
The density of a liquid at a given temperature is the mass per unit volume. It was formerly known as "specific mass". It is measured at 15°C and expressed in kg/m 3 .
Various methods are used to characterize it.
Direct measurement with a hydrometer, applying Archimedes' principle, as illustrated in figure 1 . The volume immersed is inversely proportional to the density. This method is covered by the following standards: NF EN ISO 3675 and ASTM D 1298 (cf. ).
