2. State of the art

Optimized energy management often requires the combination of several energy storage sources in order to exploit the advantages of each. Three main types of reversible electrical energy storage can be cited:

  • electrolytic capacitors ;

  • supercapacitors ;

  • batteries.

The first two are more like pulsed energy sources, with characteristic times ranging from a few miliseconds to a few seconds respectively, while accumulators are transient sources, enabling energy to be supplied in a range from a few minutes to a few hours. Although all three storage systems are essential to the implementation of an optimized electrical architecture, we will focus on supercapacitors
