2. What types of cables and plugs are needed to recharge an EV?
The cable to use to charge an EV depends on the type of plug installed on the EV (type 1 or type 2), the charging power, which varies between 1.8 kW and 22 kW on a normal charge, and the current conversion mode. This is because an EV's battery operates on direct current (DC), while the electrical supply network provides alternating current (AC), which must be converted. There are different types of cable.
