5. Apply the key regulations

Here is an overview of the regulations governing cogeneration in France in 2025.

5.1 End of support for gas-fired cogeneration

The support scheme for natural gas-fired cogeneration plants was repealed in 2021 ( décret du 21 août 2020 ). As of 2023, no new plants are eligible for a new support contract (end of feed-in tariffs for natural gas). Contracts already in effect will continue, but no new projects will be supported under this scheme.
