1. Evaluate the total contribution of cooling production units
To assess the total contribution of refrigeration production units, we use the term TEWI (total equivalent warming impact). It is a concept that characterizes the overall impact of a plant on global warming during its operational life.This index includes the direct effect due to leakage emissions in the plants and the indirect effect arising from CO 2 emissions due to the energy consumption required to operate the plant. TEWI is expressed in kg of CO 2 , and is expressed according to the formula TEWI = D + I = [ GWP100 x m x f x n x(1- t)] + [E x n x A], detailed below.
