4. Limit the energy consumption of the plant

The energy consumption of a refrigeration plant depends essentially on two parameters:

  • the building's need for refrigeration energy for comfort purposes (air-conditioning of an office or residential space), for a warehouse or cold room (preservation of agricultural or food products, temperature-sensitive products such as medicines, etc.) or for industrial processes in order to ensure temperature control;

  • the energy performance of the refrigeration plant (referred to as EER – energy efficiency ratio – and SEER – seasonal energy efficiency ratio ).
