Overview

ABSTRACT

Among compression refrigeration cycles, multistage cycles and in particular two-stage cycles are used in various domains: freezing in general, the chemical industry and lyophilization. After providing general information on these cycles, this article focuses on two-stage cycles and in particular partial injection cycles, total injection cycles and economizer cycles. The choice of the intermediate pressure is essential as it impacts the energetic consumption of the two stages. The production of very low temperatures, CO2 cascade cycles associated with other fluids and the various cycles using zeotropic blends are presented.

 INTRODUCTION

A good knowledge of compression refrigeration cycles is of major importance, which justifies the development reserved for them.

After giving a general overview of refrigeration systems in the [BE 9 730] dossier, the [BE 9 731] dossier looks at single-stage mechanical compression refrigeration cycles.

This dossier [BE 9 732] is devoted to multi-stage compression refrigeration cycles and, in particular, two-stage machines found in fields as varied as general freezing, the chemical industry and freeze-drying. A study of cascade refrigeration cycles completes the text.

The following [BE 9 733] dossier focuses on active fluids in compression machines: refrigerants and their impact on the environment.
