3. Execution classes
There are 4 of them, increasing in severity from class 1 to class 4, and they can apply to the whole structure, or be differentiated by parts of it, or even by specific details.
We strongly advise you to make use of this option, and not to sacrifice the easy solution of choosing an "envelope" class that generates unjustified costs.
The definition of one (or more) execution class(es) is a prerequisite for using the EN 1090-2 .
Execution classes are the result of a joint specification by the client and the designer. The selection of classes is set out in Appendix C of the EN 1993-1-1 2005/A1:2014; it is based on two parameters: consequence class and load type.
