8. Airfields with special features

8.1 Helistations

  • The helipads consist mainly of :

    • a final approach and take-off area ;

    • a safety area ;

    • a contact and take-off area.

    • Aire d'approche finale et de décollage (FATO: final approach and take-off area).

      Its dimensions depend on the type of helipad and the performance class in which the helicopters are operated.

      Note :

      there are three performance classes I, II and III. Operating a helicopter in performance class I means that engine failure and acceleration-stop during acceleration, or continuation...
