8. Main changes introduced by standard NF P 98-086 (2019)
The work of codifying the French dimensioning method was the development of standard NF P 98-086 "Dimensionnement des chaussées routières", published in 2011 and revised in 2019. This latest version of the standard incorporates all the changes made since the 1998 catalog of structures, in terms of characterization of road materials, classification of support platforms, typology of structures, design assumptions, and so on.
8.1 Scope of application
The standard applies to all new pavements used by heavy goods vehicles. It therefore covers the entire road network used by heavy goods vehicles, and in particular low-traffic roads, urban roads and traffic circles.
The following are excluded from its scope of application:
