1.1 Definitions

Cranes used in the construction industry fall into three families: GMEs, GMAs and luffing jib cranes, whose installation and use differ according to their characteristics.

  • GME (modular cranes)

    Rotation of the rotating part, the boom, is ensured by a slewing ring (or sometimes pivot, figure 1 ) which is placed at the top of the shaft or mast, fixed (or able to move in one direction).
