INTRODUCTION
The development of heating networks is part of the energy transition. It enables centralized heat production for use by a concentration of buildings, and thus better control of consumption and emissions of pollutants and fine particles. It also offers the possibility of using local, environmentally-friendly resources, in particular renewable energies that would otherwise be difficult to exploit, such as deep geothermal energy, heat recovery from household waste incineration or industrial processes. The renewable heat sources that can supply a heating network are diversifying (heat from wastewater, chillers, solar power plants or decentralized solar production, etc.) and complementing each other (multi-energy networks, cogeneration, etc.). Heating networks are a concrete way for local authorities to better control energy consumption, develop renewable energies and respect the environment.
