5. AC voltage control

An HVDC-VSC converter can participate in AC voltage control (Figure 14 ) through its reactive power regulation at the connection point. In fact, the transmission network can be likened to a Thévenin equivalent whose impedance corresponds to the short-circuit power seen at the connection point of the HVDC-VSC station and whose source is the equivalent voltage of the network.
