4. Requirements features

The safety lifecycle outlined in the previous paragraph involves the creation, exchange and consumption of safety requirements. To lead to the realization of a final product that conforms to expectations, these requirements must be unambiguous, self-consistent, verifiable, consistent with each other, and complete. Further criteria can be found in the literature [11]. Most of the characteristics highlighted in Box 2 are intended to enable the implementation and testing of these requirements. They must be :

  • verifiable: it is possible to construct a verification procedure to ensure that the system or equipment covered by the specification complies with the requirement.
