3. Fixed-mount visual interfaces

3.1 Evolution of monoscopic flat screens

Conventional (i.e. monoscopic) flat screens are widely used in various fields (video games, CAD, television, etc.), often to great satisfaction. They have recently evolved by increasing their size and resolution (in pixel count) and lowering their price, making them accessible to the general public. It should be pointed out, however, that this type of screen does not always have sufficient resolution to match human visual acuity (about one minute of angle), depending on the observer's angle of vision: for a small horizontal field of view of 30 degrees (computer use, television), you would need 60 x 30 x 2 = 3,600 pixels. Full HD screens display a definition of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels in 16:9 format. We're gradually getting closer to 3,000 pixels...
