3. Radar techniques and technologies

This paragraph presents an example of surface radar techniques and technologies: the "Building Blocks" developed by Thales in the 2010s to equip its primary S-band (3 GHz) radars, both land and naval, standby and multi-function.

All Building Blocks are designed according to a common architecture in which the "radar" organism is made up of "Building Blocks" linked together by a nervous system, a set of standardized means of communication.

Using the same Building Blocks, assembled in greater or lesser numbers, the radar designer can design radars in a wide range of dimensions, from the smallest battlefield radar to the largest ATBM radar, including naval radars with fixed panels.
