ABSTRACT
The edition of free software was made possible by the expansion and vulgarization of computing. Still to date, free software, due to its specificities is at the origin of many legal difficulties and uncertainties. It is within this evolving context that this article tries to address this issue. It starts by presenting free licenses: definition, interests, review of the various free licenses, case of double licenses, etc.). The management of a free project is then studied under its various aspects: advantages and drawbacks, participation or internal project as well as the necessary information in order to carry out a project successfully.

INTRODUCTION
It is common practice to use a variety of software in both our professional and personal environments. Quite often, this use is subject to compliance with more or less restrictive license conditions.
